This page explains what we collect when you visit HealSmarter, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We keep it plain on purpose. If anything here is unclear, write to us and we will explain it.

What this covers

This policy covers healsmarter.com, the guides you buy and read here, our emails, and the forms on this site. It does not cover other websites we link to. Once you follow a link away from here, that site's own policy applies.

What we collect

When you buy a guide or create an account, we collect your name, your email address, and the billing details needed to complete the order. When you join the email list, we collect your email address and your first name if you give it.

Your browser also sends ordinary technical information on every visit, such as your general location, the pages you open, and the kind of device you are using. We do not ask for your date of birth, your government ID numbers, or your medical records, and you should not send them to us.

Health information

We are an education company, not a clinic, so we are not a covered entity under HIPAA and nothing here is a medical record. If you write to us and describe your own situation, that message sits in our email inbox like any other message. Please share only what you are comfortable having in an email, and keep the details of your care between you and your care team.

Payments

Purchases run through Square, which handles your card details directly. We never see or store your full card number. What we keep is the record of the order itself: what you bought, when, and the email address tied to it, so we can give you access and answer questions later.

Guide access and printing

Guides are read on this site through your account rather than downloaded, so we log when your account opens one. If you print or save a guide page, that page carries a line identifying the account it came from. This lets us trace copies that get shared beyond the person who bought them, and it is the reason your guide is priced the way it is.

Cookies, analytics, and video

We use cookies to keep you logged in and to remember what is in your cart. Those are necessary for the site to work at all.

We also use Google Analytics  to see which pages people actually read, so we know what to write next. This tells us about traffic patterns, not about you as a named person.

Podcast episodes are embedded from YouTube, and we load them behind a click. Nothing reaches YouTube until you press play, so simply browsing the podcast page does not hand your visit to Google.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information, and we do not rent or trade your email address. We share it only with the companies that run parts of this business for us: our CRM HubSpot, our payment processor Square, our email provider Google Workspace, and our web host Godaddy.  Each of them gets only what they need to do their job.

The one other case is legal. If we are required by law to hand something over, we will comply, and we will tell you unless we are barred from doing so.

How long we keep it

Order records stay as long as tax and accounting rules require. Your account and guide access stay until you ask us to close them. Email list data stays until you unsubscribe, and unsubscribing is one click at the bottom of every email we send.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time without losing access to a guide you have already bought. Depending on where you live, you may have these rights under state or national law; we extend them to everyone who asks, because sorting people by address seemed like the wrong way to handle this.

To make any of these requests, write to info@healsmarter.com from the email address on the account. We will respond within 45 days.

Children

This site is built for adults making decisions about their own care. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes and questions

When this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for anything significant, say so by email. Older versions are available on request.
